WADA UPDATE RE PSEUDOEPHEDRINE - 16 DECEMBER 09
· The World Anti-Doping Agency has added pseudoephedrine to the 2010 Prohibited List
· From 1 January 2010, pseudoephedrine, above a certain level in a drug testing urine sample, will be banned in-competition
· To avoid reaching this level DO NOT TAKE MEDICATIONS CONTAINING PSEUDOEPHEDRINE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF COMPETITION
· Pseudoephedrine can also be a component of “slow-release” medications and these should not be taken within 48 hours of competition
· Many medications contain pseudoephedrine. Some examples are – Sudafed, Sinutab, Demazin cold and flu tablets, Codral cold and flu tablets, Chemist’s Own sinus relief
