WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP REPRESENTATION & MEDAL HISTORY

Triathlon Australia would like to thank Jackie Fairweather (nee Gallagher) for the countless hours of work which has been dedicated to produce TA's Medal History of the Triathlon World Championships covering 20 years from 1989 - 2009.  

 

21 years of  ITU Triathlon (Olympic Distance) World Championships: 1989 - 2009

 

Australia has won 88 medals - 30 Gold, 35 Silver and 23 Bronze

Women - 54 medals (20 gold)

Men - 34 medals (10 gold)

Elite Women - 27 medals - → 9 medallists including 5 multiple medallists  (Michellie Jones, Emma Snowsill, Emma Carney, Jackie Gallagher, Loretta Harrop)

12 world championships by 8 individuals (Emma Moffatt, Michellie Jones, Emma Snowsill, Emma Carney, Jackie Gallagher, Loretta Harrop, Joanne King and Nicole Hackett)

 

Elite Men - 18 medals - 9 medallists including 4 multiple medallists (Peter Robertson, Miles Stewart, Brad Beven and Brad Kahlefeldt)

6 world championships by 4 individuals (Peter Robertson x 3, Miles Stewart, Greg Welch and Chris McCormack).

2009 saw Emma Mofatt win the 1st year of ITU World Championship Series.
