What is a RECOGNISED PRACTICING COACH?

Triathlon Australia encourages all triathlon coaches to take out Public liability and professional indemnity insurance.  Effective 1st July 2004, Triathlon Australia will recognise coaches in two general categories:

ACCREDITED COACH (AC):

This means you have met the requirements of accreditation set down by the Australian Sports Commission?s National Coaching Accreditation Scheme and Triathlon Australia.

TRIATHLON AUSTRALIAN RECOGNISED PRACTICING COACH (RPC):

This means you have met the requirements of accreditation set down by the Australian Sports Commission?s National Coaching Accreditation Scheme and Triathlon Australia AND have provided Triathlon Australia with evidence (e.g. paid renewal notice / receipt of policy payment) of coaching insurance at the industry standard.

RPCs will receive official recognition and endorsement from Triathlon Australia by being listed on the TA and TA HIGH PERFORMANCE AND COACHING web sites as current, practicing accredited triathlon coaches.

It is important to note that whilst Triathlon Australia offers an excellent coaching insurance package (see www.triathlon.org.au), coaches are free to source their own insurance cover from alternate insurance companies providing that cover complies with accepted coaching industry and Triathlon Australia standards, ie twenty million dollars public liability insurance cover.
